53 - Forest City, Iowa
On Monday 9/19 we arrived in Forest City, Iowa at the Winnebago Service Center. Given we were arriving at the beginning of the week we didn't think we'd get a spot up near the service center but we did. They have a rally ground with a lot of openness that Abby really likes but Mike likes it at the service center because it's easier when we have to bring the RV for service at 7:00 in the morning. We did bring Abby to the field several times to run, which she loves.
As, I've mentioned several times the trip was rather hard on the RV and car. But as it turned out we had nothing major that needed to be done (we are replacing the windshield when we get back to Florida) and actually were finished by noon the second day so were able to leave early.
Forest City is a small town so not many choices for restaurants but we have our favorites and visited each. Monday we went to Mexican, Ay Jalisco, which is always a very good choice.
We did get to do one excursion to the site were Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson plane crashed.
