Day 3 - Icy Strait Point / Hoonan
We started of the day arriving at Icy Strait Point which is just outside of Hoonan Alaska. This was the only location where the boat couldn't dock so we had to take launches to shore. We had booked a Sea Kayaking tour which started out fantastic. We learned an important lesson; It is really easy to sea kayak when the wind is behind you blowing at 5 knots, the tide is flowing with you and the sea is calm. IT'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT when the wind is blowing 20 knots right at you, there is a 30 ft tidal swing that is flowing against you and there are 2 ft waves! They had to bring us back in via power boat!

So we decided to do sea kayaking. Two things we found out; it is easy to kayak with the wind and the tide. When we were coming back in the wind picked up to 20 knots and the tide was against us. They have 30 ft tides, so the current was VERY strong. They ended up having to bring us back in by power boat.
