  • This is rush hour in a small city, Xi'an, so you can imagine all the traffic we ran into in Beijing and Shanghai.
  • KFC and McDonalds on opposite corners, we felt at home. The most common western fast food was KFC and Pizza Hut then McDonalds. We also saw a few Subways, Dairy Queen, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Cold Stone Creamery .....
  • Promergante friend greeting us in Xi'an (pronounces She-ann).

  • One of the pits of the Terra Cotta Warriors ... they have uncovered about 6,000 warriors which were made over 2,000 years ago. Most were broken when the emperor wa overthrown and they are going through all the pieces putting them back together.
  • More warriors, supposedly they were made to look like the people building them and no two look exactly a like. I have to admit by this point in our tour I had seen a lot of things 6,000 and 2.000 years old and was getting "tired". But this was extremely impressive.
  • The emperor build these warriors so he would have an army in the after life. Wonder how that worked out for him?

  • Our guide, Melissa, called this her "rock star". This warrior was found totally in tack and did not have to be repaired at all. The detail is unbelievable when you think how long ago they were made (even for today it would be great work).
  • I am not sure why they were treated differently but the Clintons actually got to walk within the warriors.
  • Roe and Melissa taking a brake while the driver's car was being fixed. Just a short wait.

  • Another Buddisht Temple, the Lama Temple in Beijing.
  • Back with Serena in Beijing who took this picture. This was our next to last day.
  • The last day in Beijing, we found a park next to the Forbidden City. It was more of a local park and not tourists so it was very pleasant to walk around. The day was fantastic.
